Digital Video and Electronic Arts > Philosophy
The School of Art and Art History offers a dynamic and often interdisciplinary program in Electronic Media. The primary approach applies experimental applications to new technologies. Courses are designed for students to evolve on an individual and group basis toward the creative utilization of technology.
Projects currently underway through classwork and individual advanced research include; digital imaging, animation, artist's books, interactive installations, performance and experimental video art. There are also exploratory projects experimenting with computer applications in all the various areas within the School of Art and Art History. The approach is to provide an interdisciplinary environment for creative activity which reflects the inherent flexibility of digital technologies. The goal for our present and future facilities is to continue to act as a fulcrum for a variety of activities within the School of Art and Art History and throughout the College of Visual and Performing Arts. Facilities include a well equipped Macintosh lab, with extensive video editing capacities.
